UNFORTUNATELY SPAY/NEUTER VOUCHER FUNDS HAVE BEEN DEPLETED FOR THE CURRERNT FISCAL YEAR 2011/2012.
Bolivia, NC - The Brunswick County Animal Services is currently distributing vouchers to pet owners in Brunswick County to cover the cost of spay or neuter of the pet owners companion dog or cat.
The voucher program is available to residents of Brunswick County and is based on the applicant's income. Proof of residency, such as a piece of mail with their physical adress, a driver's license for identification, and proof of income (paystub, recent tax return or medicaid card) for the entire household is required at the time of application
The voucher program is designed to help pet owners who may not be able to afford to have their pets spayed or neutered. It is not intended for use on feral cats or dogs.
"We are very concerned with the growing population of unwanted pets in the county," said Don Yousey, Health Director. "We are hoping that this program will help reduce that population."
Vouchers are valid at ten (10) veterinarians within Brunswick County and only cover the cost of the surgery. Any additional charges are the sole responsibility of the persons presenting the vouchers for service. Additional charges may include an office visit fee and/or a rabies vaccination. Contact your veterinarian to see if there will be any additional charges
Vouchers are available Monday through Friday from 10am until 3:30 pm. The Brunswick County Animal Shelter is located on Highway 211 in Supply.
